Two Carved Antique Adam Style Sandstone Garden Urns
About the Item
Sourced from a country estate in the west of Scotland, these hand carved Adam style sandstone garden urns are a striking ornament set for a grand courtyard or townhouse estate. Dating from the 19th century, the pair are just two of various sandstone urns we are selling from the same location.
These antique sandstone urns nod to 18th century Adam style, defined by their sweeping tops, carved drapery swags and striking finials, intricately carved in a pineapple form. Circa 1850, the hand carved details of each statuary urn are well defined, having stood the test of time for almost 200 years. The lower half is partially carved with leaf-fluted sides above a socle on a rectangular base.
