Victorian Leaded Glass Window with Tudor Trefor Family Crest

About the Item

A large antique stained glass window detailed with the armorial crest of the Welsh family of Tudor Trefor, one of a series of 3 we are selling in the same style. At more than a metre square, this window is an impressive piece and features four vibrant yellow panels around a central diamond-shaped armorial crest. The crest depicts the coat of arms of the Tudor Trefor family within red stained glass and displays a lion with claws raised in a reared up rampant position. The Clan of Tudor Trefor Dating back to the 1st century, the Trefor family name is of Welsh origin, coming from Welsh settlements called Trevor in Anglesey and Denbigh. First found in Herefordshire, Tudor Trefor was the Lord of Hereford, Chirk, Whittington, Oswestry, Ewyas and Urchenfield, and descended from Cadell Ddyrnllwg, King of Powys (born circa 430AD). The Trefor family lived at Whittington Castle for many generations and later at Trevor Hall, Llangollen.
