Stunning and Rare Design, Early 20th Century Bentwood Modernist Magazine Stand

About the Item

Wonderful bentwood bucket stand with unique hand-printed rattan pattern. In the late 1800s and early 1900s many of the hand-crafted accessories that made their way to the homes of the well-to-do were of the best quality and beauty that mankind ever created. It was a time when we were truly catapulted into the modern era and it was in that era that the first timeless designs and modernist pieces were introduced. This bentwood magazine or newspaper stand is one such piece and if you have an eye for great and timeless design objects then you will immediately see what we mean. This is what we call a rounded geometrical design and this striking stand with its rare, handprinted rattan pattern would have graced the home of a worldy individual with an eye for great style and true beauty. Because of its timeless design, this very rare and very good condition antique will look great in an Arts and Crafts, in an Art Deco, but also in certain midcentury and even in some contemporary interiors. This rare antique stand is as strong and stable as the day it was handcrafted all those years ago and it has 'grown' the most amazing patina. The more creative interior designers can probably think of many more purposes for this stand, but even as a pure decorative piece in a stylish living room or office it will never fail to impress. A piece of this age, style, quality and beauty was probably made by one of the big two when it comes to handcrafted bentwood objects. The Thonet brothers and the Kohn brothers are the 'usual suspects' to have designed this piece. If you like this wonderful antique design object as much as we do then you will love our price. Also, because perfect packing (in a custom made box) and worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 workdays are complimentary. Maximum height x width x depth: 23.8 x 12.6 x 13.4 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.
