Native American carved loop handle splint ash basket, 1900-1920
About the Item
Native American splint ash basket with carved and bent fixed loop handle which has been flattened at the apex. The rim of the basket is comprised of two 3/8" splints which capture the 1" ash spline woven from either side of the rim. The upper rim is interwoven with a 3/8" ash spline over a 1" spline, reverting to 3/8" inch spline to lower the sides of the basket. Fine original condition.
