Set of 2 Green Glass French Demijohn Bottles with Woven Esparto Basket

About the Item

A collection of two olive colored glass demijohn bottles, used from the late 17th century through the 19th century to carry wine and spirits. Handblown, each has their own unique characteristics, from the tilt of the gooseneck to the trapped air bubbles which vary in size and impart eye catching interest A Spanish handwoven basket with lid from the late 19th century. This vintage basket from Spain has a trapezoid-shaped body and is handwoven and braided natural fibers with stick supports set vertically at each corner and along it's backside. There are a pair of handles flanking each shorter end, and an attached lid in the same materials lays at it's top. This large basket would make a wonderful decorative object, while being a functional piece. Bottle diameter: 11in.
