Antique Venetian Murano Quilted Opal Dark Pink Rim Italian Art Glass Footed Bowl
About the Item
Beautiful antique Venetian, early Murano hand blown white opalescent with dark pink edge Italian art glass quilted footed bowl. Attributed to the Salviati company. The bowl has a squared shape, with folded up sides, and diamond quilted pattern throughout (photos do not do justice to the pattern). It has an applied foot, also quilted and with trim. The glass changes colors depending on the background and light. It can look a light blue, or have hints of orange within, when hit with direct sunlight. It is created with what is often referred to as "fiery opal" glass. You can see the shadows burst with an orange color when the sun hits it. Very elegant design. Would make a great display piece on any desk, vanity or curio cabinet. Use it as a catchall, or candy dish on your coffee table. Art Nouveau era. Measures: 6 1/2" long x 6 1/2" wide x 3 1/4" high.
