About the Item

Ceramic bowl by Carlo Zauli, Italy 1960s. Exceptionally work in black ceramic with a refined yet minimal line decoration in off white with a brown outline. The lines create a nice contrast with the dark surface and point out the circular shape. The work really emphasizes the style of Zauli which has similarities with the minimal work of Japanese Masters. The bowl is signed at the bottom. In excellent original condition.

    Rare large bowl by Bruno Gambone, Italy, 1970. Outstanding large object in a fantastic bright yellow glaze with a dark brown / aubergine line on the in- and outside. A beautiful crackle pattern is visible inside the bowl, beautiful warm texture. In excellent condition. Signed on the bottom. Bruno Gambone was the son of Guido Gambone, born in Vietri sul Mare (Salerno) on 18th October 1936. After a brief period working in ceramics beginning at the age of 14 in his father's studio in Florence and later in Andrea d'Arienzo's ceramic factory in Florence until the end of the 1950s. Determined to make his own way and explored other artistic experiences, such as fabric decoration and painting. In 1959 he held his first exhibition of paintings in the La Strozzina Gallery in Florence. In 1963 he moved to the United States and spent a few years in New York. Here, he moved among artists like Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, and gained much experience in the fields of painting, sculpture, cinema and theatre.
