Edwardian Sterling Silver Wheelbarrow Bon Bon Dishes
About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Edwardian English sterling silver bon bon dishes in the form of wheelbarrows; an addition to our silver cruet and condiments collection.
These exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver dishes have been realistically modelled in the form of wheelbarrows.
The surface of each novelty silver bon bon dish is embellished with impressive pierced trellis style decoration.
Each flared rim is encompassed with a paralleling cast and applied scrolling leaf and floral decorated border.
The posterior of each wheelbarrow design incorporates two horizontal pales replicating the vessels handles, in addition to two vertical supports allowing the piece to stand in situ.
These exceptional antique dishes feature further cast scrolling flourishes, emanating to a functional sterling silver wheel to the anterior portion.
The cast silver wheel of each piece reflects a floral rosette, accented with a scalloped style border.
The tapering well of each dish is plain and unembellished.
These exceptional dishes were crafted by the renowned silversmith George Fox.
Such examples in a matching pair are rare to the market.
Condition
These antique silver wheelbarrow dishes are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each dish are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique silverware.
