French 19th Century Louis XV Style Ormolu and Porcelain Tureen, Signed Sèvres
About the Item
An exquisite French 19th century Louis XV st. royal cobalt blue porcelain and ormolu tureen signed Sèvres. The tureen is raised by a rich scrolled ormolu support with rich large acanthus leaves and seashell cabochons in a satin and burnished finish. Leading up each side are pierced scrolled handles with charming intricately chased floral patterns connecting the pierced ormolu top band. The body and lid display exceptionally executed and richly hand painted gold scrolled floral patterns in relief framing remarkable lattice patterns. At the top is a branch like fine ormolu finial with impressively etched leaves.
