He has contributed significantly to the design and creation of glassware pieces for the company. Michael Bang comes from a family with a rich heritage in glassblowing. His father, Jacob E. Bang, was a prominent designer who worked for Holmegaard from 1928 to 1943. Michael Bang himself joined Holmegaard in 1968 and became the company's chief designer in 1978. His designs are characterized by their elegant simplicity and functional aesthetic. He has created various glassware collections, including vases, bowls, candleholders, and lamps, often incorporating innovative shapes and techniques.
