Small, High Bowl by Atelier Ledure

About the Item

Small, low bowl by Atelier Ledure Dimensions: D 27 x H 13 cm Materials: Ceramics - stoneware Also Available: Other variations available. A Protest Against Polished Stoneware The BOWLS are the result and expression of a series of experiments with different materials: clay, earth, honey, sand and glaze. Combining, adding and baking the different granules result in the unique texture and appearance of each bowl. By mixing honey with other glazes & pigments, a special patina is created. In addition, different textures are applied to the inside and outside of the shell. Every BOWL is unique and meant to protest polished stoneware. In a series of different experiments in composition and finishes, a journey into the elegance of roughness is embarked upon. Each BOWL is meant as an accentuation of the beauty of the imperfect. ATELIER LEDURE Atelier Ledure is the joint project of designers and makers, father and son, Filip and Victor Ledure. Victor Ledure (1990) is a designer of furniture, sculptures and utensils. He graduated in 2016 as an architect and worked in several renowned architecture practices. In 2020 he decided to focus more on his work and founded ATELIER LEDURE together with his father. He’s a guest lecturer of design at the Catholic University of Leuven, Faculty of Architecture and Interior Architecture. His work is currently displayed in various galleries nationally and internationally. Filip Ledure (1958) has exhibited in various galleries since 1995. He studied dentistry and ceramics and ran his dental group practice in combination with his artistic activities. He is also the co-founder and chairman of origo . ws, a non-profit organization with a focus in West Africa, which has fed and founded the inspiration for his visual work. In 2020, Filip decided to focus full-time on his passion and founded ATELIER LEDURE together with his son. Filip and Victor share a passion for design, materials and craftsmanship but each have their own area of expertise. Filip has more than 24 years of expertise in manufacturing large-scale ceramic work, Victor likes to experiment with new materials and innovative design methods. They both spent a fair share in inhospitable areas in West Africa and Latin America, and draw their inspiration from these unique and broad parts of the world. Each object of ATELIER LEDURE starts from a clear narrative observed throughout their lives and is handmade by Victor or Filip. ATELIER LEDURE exclusively makes this collection of sculptures, utensils and furniture on demand. Unique pieces not featured in this catalogue are also possible upon request.
