Blackened Thoronet Dish by Henry Wilson

About the Item

Blackened Thoronet Dish by Henry Wilson Dimensions: W 20 x D 5 x H 30 cm Materials: Bronze (Blackened) Thoronet dish, shares its' name and arched lines with the Abby in the south of France. It is made, polished and finished in Sydney, Australia in solid Aluminium. Sand casting is as much about negative space as it is about form, This piece can be stood up as a display object. Each casting is manufactured in small batches meaning slight variations will occur from piece to piece. Production marks may include slight pour ripples or surface pitting. Heat treatment gives a blackened finish which will oxidise and further darken over time to reveal a distinctive patina. Simply use a metal polish to return it to it's original blackened state. Do not use scouring pads. Henry Wilson's work combines a rational, democratic utility with an element of sculptural expression. There is a clear form and function in our products, but it’s important they also have feeling. We are interested in the awkward beauty that comes from something made by hand. We like to explore how imperfection can be introduced into an industrial process, to make something at scale that retains a sense of individual charm.
