  • Daum Nancy Twin Handled Cherry and Plum Glass Bowl, 1925-1930
    By Daum
Located in Forest Row, East Sussex
A twin handled art glass bowl designed and manufactured by Daum Nancy. The bowl features mottled white and clear glass cased in cherry and plum. It is signed Daum Nancy to the base with their signature Croix de Lorraine (Cross of Lorraine). When Jean Daum assumed control of the Verrerie Sainte-Catherine, after the previous owners defaulted on their loans, he could not have imagined that well over one hundred years later people would express such a passion for antique Daum art glass made by his sons. The company was originally known for making watch glass and drinking glasses. We have an illness that left Antonin Daum bedridden for several months in 1890 to thank for Daum Art Nouveau glass. Whilst ill Antonin began sketching floral designs for vases which went into production as soon as he recovered. These designs changed the direction of the company forever. Daum glass is defined by quality and variety all of which stems from this first foray into art glass. Our stunning range of Daum cameo glass, Daum Pàte de Vere glass, and Daum Art Deco glass...
