Decorative Bergmann Dish Mde from Lime Stone with Trout Figurine
About the Item
For sale is a vide poche/decorative dish. It is made from grey polished lime stone. this way the beautiful veiny structure of the material, similar to marble, gets accentuated. It is decorated with a hand painted white metal figurine of a rainbow trout. The painting, which is very detailed, is rubbed off slightly in some spots (see pictures). The Viennese Bronze manufacture Franz Bergmann produced these in the 1930s to 1940s. Due to the second World War all precious metals were needed elsewhere, so Bergmann resorted to the less sought-after white metal alloy.
The object is in good vintage condition. It is an original product by the manufacture Bergmann and no reproduction. No restorations or modifications have been made.
