Egidio Casagrande Mid Century Italian Hammered Scalloped Brass Bowl 6.5"

About the Item

A beautiful mid century Italian Egidio Casagrande hammered copper bowl or compote featuring his classic modernist design with scalloped edge in the form of a flower. #47. Egidio Casagrande (1911-1962). He worked in brass and copper. He was born in Borgo Valsugana, Italy, in the northern province of Trento (August 28, 1911), and died there (June 11, 1962). At thirteen he was apprenticed in the workshop of Luigi Taddei, specializing in the production of iron and copper. In 1937 he moved to Milan where he opened a workshop for the production of copper objects, but after a few years returned to his village. His company grew and at one point he had about a hundred workers and apprentices. He made sculptures for public places. He worked with Hollywood films such as Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments, and The Fall of the Roman Empire, that were filmed in Italy. Dimensions: 6.5" x 2.625" (Diameter x Height)
