Mid-century ceramic vide poche with a woman face by Jaque Sagan, Vallauris, 1960 This colourful piece has a slightly grainy feel and is glazed in bright green and pink. The face of a woman, almost cubist, is represented. The piece is in very good condition with some signs of wear and age. The signature is on the back : "J. Sagan - Vallauris". Initially a music hall artist, Jaque Sagan, one of the most famous french ceramists, settled in Vallauris in 1952 during the famous Golden Age of the french village. Close to Jean Derval, Jacque Sagan is indeed part of the new wave of artists etablished in the early 1950s in Vallauris. Gathered around the personality of Picasso, they produce artistic ceramics and sculptures. Jaque Sagan creations are mainly marked by Africa and Antiquity.
