18th Century Italian Blue Decorative Box with Cupid and Flower Decoration

About the Item

Late 18th century Italian lacquered wooden box with Faux Paper and Flowers. Made in shades of blue and decorated on all sides, this romantic Italian antique box is decorated with flower and vegetal patterns in pink and gold but the unique feature is the faux sheet of paper placed on the lid on which a Cupid with a bow and an arrow is drawn with an ink pen in one part, while in the other there is a coastal landscape with boat and architectures. The author's illegible signature, P. Cav Follius Calamo Fecit. Red painted interior. The box is in good condition. Italy, late 1700s. A unique, rare Italian taste artwork for collectors only. We have selected this lovely box in a private collection, it was equipped with not relevant, unoriginal hinges, since originally the lid was only resting on the box without hinges and therefore we have removed hinges, restoring the original state. Good age related condition, with restorations and signs of use consistent with a four centuries age. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago requires a governative license for export called Belle Arti. The shipping may require additional 2-3 handling weeks to require and get the license according to the final destination of the artwork.
