19th Century French Miniature Coffer Marquetry
About the Item
An early 19th century miniature French coffer, or small hinged box, made of solid walnut with marquetry inlay. Original decorative bronze hardware and large iron hinges. Working lock and key. Three stacking trays for storing silverware were fashioned at a later date and are precisely fitted to the interior of the box. Exceptional craftsmanship. French polish finish. Missing a small piece of trim on front edge of lid. Weight: 23lbs..
