Alfred Daguet French Art Nouveau Jeweled Metal Repousse Box
About the Item
French Art Nouveau period box in metal repoussé´ panels with inserted colorful glass cabochon jewels, made by Alfred Daguet in the 1910s in Paris. The highly decorative brass lid panel has a central medallion with a dog and stylized natural motifs in medieval or byzantine style.
Daguet's atelier in Paris was situated right above Siegfried Bing's boutique 'L'Art Nouveau', which was an instrumental proponent of the Art Nouveau style. Daguet created and provided a large amount of pieces for Bing's boutique.
This box is not marked and is in remarkable antique condition, with a desirable natural patina to the metal surfaces.
