Art Deco Orientalist Africanist Hand-Carved Wood Box, 1930s
About the Item
This stunning large orientalist decorative lidded box is from the French Art Deco period. The Africanist influence design boasts Macassar wood hand-carved faces on the lid. The rectangular shape is complimented with off-white Galalith rounded feet and an impressive carved wooden handle-finial. There is no visible maker's mark.
Good condition, with one corner having a slightly opened edge, but not a structural problem for the box. The Galalith plaque on the front side shows a crack.
Measurements: 10.25 in wide (26 cm) x 5.13 in deep (13 cm) x 5.94 in high (15 cm).
