French Leather jewelry box with inlaid etched plaque - France - Louis XVI style
About the Item
Charming wooden jewelry or sewing box covered in brown leather, surrounded by a dark brown inlaid frieze and a decorative green frieze glued around the box.
The leather is decorated with golden patterns on small irons.
The inside of the box is made of raw wood. It consists of a removable compartment separated into 2 compartments.
The box has on the lid an inlaid etched plaque representing a gallant scene from the 18th century with people from the bourgeoisie in a countryside landscape.
The box dates from the beginning of the 20th century but the etching plate dates from the 18th or 19th century.
The underside of the box bears a sticker from the manufacturers "Fabrique de Bijouterie - A Aurillac Cantal"
