Large Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Goldstone Meiji Box with Roosters

About the Item

A large antique Japanese Meiji Era covered enamel over brass trinket or jewelry box. The ware is adorned with polychrome floral, and foliage patterns made in the Cloisonne technique. A lid is enameled with a polychrome image of a rooster and a hen, and a geometrical motif on borders made in the Cloisonne technique. The bottom is enameled with polychrome floral, foliage and scrollwork patterns made in the same technique. The ground is inlaid with a Goldstone. Unmarked.
