Mosaic marquetry outside and red velvet lined. Marquetry in gold, green, cobalt blue design. Size is 8" x 2.5" x 2" height. Overall good condition. The designs on early boxes look deceptively simple. The fact is they emerged from a culture which had mastered geometry and understood how to generate a pattern from a set number of points.
