A rare, beautiful pewter bonbonnière and flower decor, attributed Sylvia Stave, Sweden 1933. Manufactured by CG. Hallberg, with hallmarks. In good condition. Smaller signs of age and wear.
About the artist:
Sylvia Rosa Agneta Stave, birth name Sylvia Gadd, (1908–1994), Swedish silversmith and illustrator who was active until 1940. After successfully exhibiting at the 1930 Stockholm Exhibition, she was appointed lead artist at Hallbergs Guldsmeds AB, with over 600 employees with a factory in Stockholm. Over the following years, she received good reviews for the articles exhibited in Sweden and abroad and her designs for everyday items were adopted by Hallbergs for mass production. After attending the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1937–1939), she contributed works to Hallbergs for the last time. Many of her works are included in the permanent collection of Stochholm's National Museum.
