About

BLING BOX 3 The bluest of blue stones, lapis lazuli, is the basis for Studio Greytak’s most protective piece yet, Bling Box 3. Because dark blue lapis lazuli mimics the night sky, it is said to ward off the evil eye. Here it sits atop the most spiritual of woods, African wenge. Together, they provide a grounding base that inspires the deepest self-reflection. Above, a dark green nest of malachite, also known to banish evil spirits, is flanked by the fiery intensity of pyrite which burns away fear and anxiety. On top, an architectural array of quartz, the master healer, holds a beautiful piece of rare smoky citrine. A powerful combination of sunny citrine and dark, smoky quartz, this stone conjures up the incredible protective powers of both to bring safety, creativity, and abundance. The magic continues inside where the sparkling light of labradorite heals and purifies alongside the watery calm of chrysocolla, the deep perspective of rutilated quartz, and the ancient healing of topaz. The vibrant blue Lapis lazuli is said to carry the soul to heavenly contemplation. No wonder then that it has been a part of some of history’s most epic works of art, including the startling splash of blue in Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring” and the vivid swath of the heavens in Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel fresco “The Last Judgement.” Lapis lazuli brings insight into the soul, a flood of creativity, and the ability to share truths with others. Malachite has been called one of the most important minerals in the history of humankind. In 4000 BC, it was discovered that heating malachite over a hot fire reduced it to native copper, and metallurgy was born. Energetically, Malachite enhances willpower and strengthens our ability to act on our thoughts and ideas. It carries the frequency of the enlightened leader and reminds us of our power to manifest with the Universe. Quartz amplifies the power of other elements nearby and can be programmed by focusing intention upon it. This allows one to achieve virtually any goal. Clear quartz is a stone of light providing a clear path for higher vibrations from spiritual realms to the physical world. Once considered magic by ancient people, pyrite increases vitality, enhances willpower, and aids in overcoming fear and anxiety. A creative stimulant, it feeds the qualities of ambition, commitment, and persistence. Smoky Citrine combines the strength and stability of smoky quartz with the bright and cheery citrine to blast away old negative beliefs and open the doors for abundance. The ancient Inuits of Canada tell of a warrior discovering a rock along the coast of present-day Labrador. Inside this rock, the lights sparkled and danced. Wishing to free them, the warrior struck the rock with his spear. The lights that were freed formed the great Northern Lights. The rest stayed locked away in the stone we now know as Labradorite. As much as it has been used in decorative objects for its beauty, ancient shamans, healers, and diviners have used this “Stone of Magic” to facilitate communication between the spiritual and physical worlds, to reach out to ancestors, and to heal and purify. It is also associated with synchronicity and serendipity. One shouldn’t be surprised to discover that happy coincidences occur more often in the presence of labradorite, which could help light the way to one’s true path. The Egyptian queen, Cleopatra, carried chrysocolla, the stone of communication, with her on all her journeys to calm and soothe violent people she met along the way. A powerful stone for women, and for people who must use their voice, this brilliant blue-green mineral carries the vibration of the earth and the purest energies of love. It reminds us to let go of fiery anger and the anxiety of stress and helps us turn instead to our inner wisdom and recognizing the power of our words to encourage compassion and strengthen emotional bonds. Rutilated quartz is the stone of perspective. When paired with the amplifying powers of quartz, the rutile slices through fog and gets to the root of problems. When formed as a star, it lets one’s mind soar to a higher consciousness and see the path that was hidden before. Each color of topaz has different metaphysical properties. Golden topaz is the stone of intention that helps one manifest creations. Blue topaz helps increase concentration and mental abilities. Pink topaz brings hope, purple heightens spirituality, brown strengthens love commitments, and clear topaz allows one to see the big picture and find diving truth. In general, topaz brings luck and good fortune, including wealth and greater understanding. The wenge tree requires craftsmen in the Sub-Saharan belt of Africa to work hard and long for its valuable timber. Only fire can penetrate the dense wood and prepare it for harvest. Wenge calls for extreme patience to slowly reveal its deep, rich color and striking, fine grain. Wenge brings thoughtfulness, balance, focus, and spirituality. It will help those in its presence experience a balanced mood and seek wisdom. Place this piece in a space where you feel most vulnerable. It will guard your secrets as well as your treasures and give you the confidence to bring forth your most magical creations.
