Tramp Art Box, Large Scale and Unusual Form. Circa 1900

About the Item

Large scale tramp art box of unusual form. At 2 feet wide quite impressive in scale and equally impressive in the ambition of the craftsman who created it. The geometry of the psuedo rhomboid form is both compelling and amusing. Clearly well thought out, an incredible amount of work went into realizing this wonderful box. It's similar to a piece of Brutalist sculpture in it's impact. The hinged lid lifts up to reveal an interior with till box. It even has a clever simple locking mechanism. This piece is both a useful box and a unique piece of art. 24 inches wide by 16 deep, 14 high
