An exceptionally fine quality example of a Lady’s or Gentleman’s English Regency Period polished brass mounted Flame Mahogany Inlaid Boulle Style Jewellery or Trinket Casket or Table Box made during the first quarter of the Nineteenth Century, of English origin.  The rectangular form with hinged lid opening to reveal a later burgundy coloured woven fabric which is superbly done. Central cartouche on lid with initials possibly RLH.  This exquisite casket is raised on four generous beaded bun supports.  Condition: Good condition with nice patination, no losses to brass inlays. Lock is present and working, key does not turn, original drop ring handles at sides.  Height: (entire closed) 3.5" (9cm). Width: (at front) 10.5” (27cm). Last quarter of the 19th century. The hinged cover opens to reveal an original fitted interior of twin smooth lift out finial covers. Condition: superb condition with no losses to inlays, interior foil linings are quite worn. Baise underneath has wonderful age-wear, very nice untouched surface patination. The presented and chosen motifs reflect the spirit of the time, Jugendstil. The offered antique caskets come with their rare original keys, normally lost over the years, here the keys with pierce work Erhard & Sohne lion logo and additional E.S.. The original locking mechanism is working properly.
