An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver jewelry box; an addition to the ornamental silverware collection This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver jewelry box has been realistically modelled in the form of an 18th century card table. The serpentine shaped body is plain and unembellished, apart from the feature hallmarks. The upper plateau of the box is embellished with impressive cast and applied scrolling leaf decoration, paralleling the shaped border and incorporating an oval cartouche to the center. The framed cartouche features a scene of a female figure in a flowing garment, perched on a swing and engaging with a gentleman holding a cane, in addition to a second male figure lying leisurely on the ground. This silver jewelry box is fitted with the original, hallmarked, hinged wreath decorated handle to the anterior surface of the table drawer, allowing access to the interior. This silver jewelry box drawer is cedar wood lined and retains the original navy blue velvet interior. This exceptional box is supported by four impressive cabriole style cast silver legs with scrolling leaf ornamentation in junction with the body, replicating the mouldings of an original table. Condition This Edwardian jewelry box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The cast and applied decoration is all very sharp; this box shows little signs of use. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the box, in addition to part hallmarks to the surface of the drawer and handle are all very clear.
