About the Item
The creation of this was inspired by a situation that happened with a friend, who dropped a lit candle at my place. I connected the feeling of that moment to a general state of anxiety.
Anxiety generates attempts to run away from oneself and from events. Distress can come from everyday triggers, which put us in that aggressive state. Being anxious is painful.
To deal with my moment of distress, I created the Platonic candleholders. The inspiration to deal with this pain came from a new look at Platonic solids, idealised forms that represent perfection.
Out of the clash between the perfection of the solids and the deformation caused by the feeling comes the seemingly dangerous shape, but one that provides a safe base for the fire.
