The "panther cone" candlestick of the Born to be a light collection illustrates Carole Serny's taste for contrasts between a rigorous form and a rich decor. The panther motif, chiseled by hand, is a unique signature for this exceptional object. It can be part of the Totem n°1 of the BORN TO BE A LIGHT collection, which is composed by a set of 3 stackable candlesticks and 2 intermediary elements. Made in a limited edition of 5 units, the pieces of the Born To Be A Light collection are signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
After two heavy years between pandemic, war and climate change, the collection BORN TO BE A LIGHT, inspired by disco-funk aesthetic, was intended to defy the ambient gloom. This range of nine stackable candleholders was born from a deep desire for light, lightness and fun.
Disc, cylinder, truncated cone and torus, geometric volumes and graphic decorations can be combined as desired. A playful totem gilded with fine gold in which know-how and good humor coexist. All the pieces are turned in solid brass. Treatments and patterns are various so the different elements can be hand-chiseled, hammered, sandblasted, polished and finally gold-plated.
Promoting French know-how and manufacturing, an exclusive attention is paid to each object, giving it a unique and lasting character. The workshop's pieces are original creations and illustrate the know-how of a craftswoman. They are intended to accompany their owners for years to come. The marks, the patina or the scratches, which may appear over time, will illustrate this relationship and will constitute the additional soul specific to each creation.

Carole Serny
Carole Serny designs and manufactures by hand, using precious metals or cuprous metals, objects intended for interior design, decoration or the art of living. As certified craftswoman, she combines the techniques of silversmithing and chiseling to create unique or limited series pieces. Winner of the French 2020 Arts Crafts Young Creation Prize, her approach combines traditional know-how with a technical curiosity opened to experimentation and a contemporary aesthetic, at the border between art and craft, between sensitivity and rigor.
