Japanese Antique Wabi Sabi Candle Stick 1800s-1860s / Fork Art Object

About the Item

This is a very old candlestick made in Japan. It is from the Edo period (1800s-1860s). The wood seems to be cedar. The needle is made of iron. It was found in a very old private house. It is a primitive style design with tree roots. The blackened color is due to the fact that it was located near a hearth and was continuously covered with soot. The color is wonderful. This item evokes the spirit of wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence. It is the opposite of vulgarity, a beauty of modesty and modesty, the beauty of the unconventional. This is a unique and very rare item. Weight 400g. Since ancient times, people have created and passed down necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the severe struggle against nature, and have nurtured a lifestyle culture. By using these objects over a long period of time, they accumulate a flavor and reflect a way of life. The more severe the natural environment and the weaker we are, the stronger their power becomes. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly re-creating things around us by modifying them opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we collect beautiful, powerful, and unique carefully selected antiquities from Japan.
