This rare pair of late 20th-century french bronze candlesticks displays influences of Expressionism. Crafted entirely of bronze and patinated in a deep green hue, the candlesticks have a cylindrical shaft that divides into two openings at the top to hold candles. The textured floral motifs in each opening provide visual interest. The candlesticks stand on a square base supported by four slender legs. Adding to the overall sculptural quality is a small owl figure perched on the base.
The abstract, biomorphic forms reflect stylistic features often seen in works by Diego Giacometti. As a one-of-a-kind artwork from around 1980, these candlesticks would make a compelling addition to any contemporary decor.
