Pair Antique French Bronze Figural Monkey Statue Candleholders Candlesticks 1900
About the Item
A good pair of antique French bronze monkey statuette candlesticks, circa 1900.
This pair of whimisical candlesticks are modeled as monkeys, with engraved Venetian outifts as worn by The "Zanni", a trickster or clown character from "Commedia dell'arte", the English word "Zany" comes from the name Zanni!
The standing monkeys are counterbalanced by their tails and stand stable and upright, each one is holding a candle holder with a bobeche to catch any candlewax.
The candlesticks are finely cast in bronze by lost wax (cire purdue) method, they are of heavy guage quality, beautiful patina, excellent condition and are ready to grace your table.
