Per B. Sundberg Candlestick from the "FÖREMÅL" Collection for IKEA, 2018

About the Item

For sale a wonderfully playful and typically kitsch stoneware candle holder by the rebel Swedish artist and designer, Per B. Sundberg for his limited edition "FÖREMÅL" Collection for Ikea in 2018. The FÖREMÅL Collection was dreamed up by Per B Sundberg – an iconic Swedish artist known for his absurd humour – and is a fun and surprising collection of decorative objects that have been described as "Pretty. Ugly. Lovely". Known as an Artist, ceramicist and maverick, Sundberg is also an insatiable ‘collector’ and has a love for kitsch figurines. Per knows better than anybody that objects are precious to people for different reasons. So that’s why FÖREMÅL (Swedish for 'Object') is made up of pieces such as vases and candlesticks that may seem peculiar to some, and to others, worth pride of place on their mantelpiece. ‘I try to fight with people’s expectations,’ he says. Like many of Per’s well-known pieces, this collection requires a second glance – the artist is known to hide surprises in plain sight. "My objects can be scary, funny, even sometimes a bit disturbing. You should be moved by them." he says. (Ikea) Unused and in its original artist-designed box, the candleholder is in pristine condition and carries Sundberg's signature on a sticker to the base.
