Sculptural organic modern black ceramic art candlestick or small vase with thick terracotta peach colored stripes. Winding body with two short “arms” and asymmetrical base. Handmade by the award-winning artist Richard Parker, one of New Zealand's leading comtemporary ceramic artists. Parker's vast body of work is all about energy and humour, and he has his very own take of what a functional item should look like as this piece is a clear example of. Original label under base. Beautiful vintage condition. New Zealand, circa 2003. Richard Parker's work has been exhibited over many years in the United States, New Zealand, Europe and Japan. At an early stage in his career Parker abandoned the known terms of the proces and look of ceramic functional pieces, and developed a unique ceramics vocabulary. Parker's signature style is instantly recognizable often with decorative embellishments such as colorful dashes, dots and stripes.
