About the Item
A set of three beautiful Scandinavian Modern amber cased glass candle holders by Per-Olof Ström for Alsterfors Glass. Handblown in Sweden, circa the 1950s.
Per-Olof Ström was a Swedish glass designer known for his work during the mid-20th century. Alsterfors is indeed one of the Swedish glassworks where Ström contributed his designs.
This set of candle holders embodies the clean lines and innovative designs characteristic of Scandinavian glass from that era.
Candle holders from this period often feature simple yet elegant forms, with an emphasis on functionality and aesthetic appeal. Pieces designed by Ström for Alsterfors Glass are highly collectible, appreciated for their quality craftsmanship and timeless design.

¨Alsterfors started off as an iron foundry, but began making glass in 1885, when the factory was bought by J. A. Gottwald Fogelberg, who was the manager of Kosta. Alsterfors became part of the Association of Swedish Crystal Manufacturers in 1903. Since then it changed hands several times. Designers at the factory include Edvin Ollers, Ingrid Atterberg, Fabian Lundkvist, and of course Per Olof Strom. The factory closed in 1980.¨
