Set Of Seven Glass Silver Farmer Candlesticks, Belgium

About the Item

A very decorative set of seven different glass-silver candlesticks C 1900-1920. Each candlestick made of poor man's silver is made of double-walled glass that is silver-plated on the inside. Old poor man's silver is often beautifully weathered and has a very special appearance. Ordinary working-class families could not purchase silver household goods like the civilian population. Poor silver was produced for them in the 19th to early 20th centuries.The glass object was blown into a shape at a glassworks, for example at Val-Saint-Lambert. The silver on the inside of all candlesticks is tarnished but gives a decorative value in this setting of seven pieces.
