This fine antique George V sterling silver wax jack has an ovoid form to a waisted pedestal and circular spreading circular base. The body and hallmarked push fit upper portion of the wax jack are ornamented with wirework decoration. These unusual and elegant candlesticks were made during the Art Nouveau period yet remain totally modern today. They are exquisite, tall and designed by Friedrich Adler and are from Jugendstil movement. He was a German academic, artist and designer. He was most known for his accomplishments in doing metalwork in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. They are truly exceptional in person and are on the rare side. They were made between 1900-1930 and are unsigned as during this prolific period of his, he did not sign his pieces. It was not until his later work, that pieces were signed.
