    A superb high quality eight-day striking and repeating carriage clock, signed on the enamel dial PERREGAUX AU LOCLE, circa 1870. The superb engraved gilt gorge brass case has facetted glass panels to all sides so that the movement is almost entirely visible. The top has a large rectangular window which allows full view of the original silvered platform escapement. At the back, there is a glazed door giving access to the winding and setting arbors, the functions of which are explained indications in French. The clock is surmounted by a typically shaped carrying handle. The rectangular enamel dial has a Roman chapter ring with an outer minute track with five-minute markers.     A Rare 18th-Century Georg II Grande Sonnerie Striking Spring Table Clock by William Poulton, London, C.1750 Watchmaker to the King of Spain. A small and extremely attractive English eighteenth-century grande sonnerie striking spring clock with an ebonised fruitwood veneered oak case, made circa 1750. The inverted bell top case is glazed on all sides so that the movement is almost entirely visible. The case is surmounted by a brass handle and rests on shaped brass feet. The dial, which is shaped at the top, has a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, surrounded by silver rococo spandrels. In addition, there are two subsidiary silvered rings in the shaped top, the right one for rise-and-fall regulation, the opposite for switching off the striking mechanism (strike/silent). The date is indicated in a date aperture situated above the XII.     Maker: Breguet # 5257 Stamped Soldano on the underside of the platform. Case: The gilt-bronze case with original gold in typical gorge-cased form is stamped on the underside ‘440’ and ‘1275’. Dial: The white porcelain dial has Roman numerals for the hours, steel-cut Breguet-style hands and is signed ‘Breguet, 5257’. Movement: The eight-day movement has all the indications in both French and English, has a blank stamp where the the trade-mark stamp for the ebauche maker was scrubbed, is numbered ‘1275’ and ‘440’, is engraved ‘Breguet, 5257’ and strikes the quarters on a bell. Above sits the balance platform with a lever escapement and a beautifully engine-turned mask. The underside is stamped Soldano. Notes: Breguet was founded by Abraham Louis Breguet and is one of the most famous horological dynasties in history. The are noted for exceptional quality and design and often for advanced technological innovations and their pieces always demand a premium. They are one of the few firms that still have extensive sales records and know who the original buyers were for each and every piece.
