Fine English Renaissance Revival Mahogany Chiming Tall Case Clock. Circa 1890, Russells Ltd. The three-train movement with an arched brass plate, mounted with allover cut-out and raised foliate scrolls, fitted with a Westminster and Whittingham dial indicator, and chime / silent indicator, the wide steel chapter ring with large Arabic numerals and a signature plate, centering a subsidiary minutes ring, playing tunes on nine steel chimes; the case with scrolled cresting centering a carved lions mask, over fret-carved sound panels, over a glazed door flanked by free-standing columns, the body with a beveled glass segmented door, with engaged quarter-columns headed by lion masks, above a base carved with fruited swags, on claw-and-ball feet. The body with a brass dedication plaque, Presented to John Nickson, Esq. as a mark of service in the last year. Dated January 23, 1891. Height 8 ft. 2 in. (248.92 cm.), Width 24.5 in. (62.23 cm.), Depth 18 in. (45.72 cm.)
