19th Century Louis XVI Neoclassical Style Bronze & Marble Three Piece Clock

About the Item

Circa 1890 French Jewel Escape Movement Bronze and Marble Three Piece Clock and Candle Garniture. The clock piece of this set features three bronze putti holding up a black spherical Roman numeral clock. It is what is called a "Dome" or "Ball" clock. The movement was made by Vincente, a known high-end French manufacturer in the 1820s. This clock has a platform balance escapement, similar to a watch. The clock face also has bronze stars pasted on and the hand of the clock is in the shape of a slithering snake. The two candelabras are cast to look like putti holding up a basket of roses that form into the three candle holders. Overall, this piece is both artistic and exquisite and would make a beautiful addition to any room of the home. You can display the garniture set together on a mantel or individually on separate surfaces. The bells play every hour and a half hours quietly. The clock is in running condition, with original movement, and no missing pieces or repairs. It comes with a key and plays bells every hour and every half hour, softly. It may be too soft for some to hear. If you have never owned an antique clock and want to keep it running smoothly, we recommend getting familiar with the logistics of how antique clocks need to be packed, transported, set up, and maintained, before purchase. If you wish to have it running and not just decorative, we recommend having a clock expert familiar with French movements set it up and level it in your home. We can send videos and offer referrals to local clock experts upon request. This requires specialty shipping with shippers experienced in transporting antique clocks. Clock H=16.5 in. W= 5.75 in.
