French Empire Ormolu and Marble Mantel Clock of Cupid

About the Item

French Empire Ormolu and marble vert mantel clock of Cupid whispering. Wonderful original fire gilded mercury ormolu. The quality of the casting and chasing is superb, from the individual strands of cupids hair, to the tassle on the seat. Cupid sits upon a seat, with his bow leaning against him, golding an arrow. His finger is raised to his lips. His quiver of arrows rests atop the clock case, with a drape. Set upon four ormolu feet, the white enamel dial with roman numerals, strikes the hours and halfs by way of a countwheel. Of 8 day duration, and fine ormolu hands. A anthemion mount runs along base of clock. A superb quality French empire clock.
