French Mid 19th Century Charles X Period Ormolu Portico Clock

About the Item

An exceptional French mid 19th century Charles X period ormolu portico clock. The clock is raised by fine bun feet below the rectangular base with an elegant mottled design and richly chased wrap around Coeur de Rai band. At the center are four impressive columns with square plinths and capitals, and a berried laurel band centering the striking pendulum with beautiful most decorative patterns. The clock face displays a stunning array of additional decorative geometric patterns with elegant and most unique pierced hands and enameled Roman numeral hour markers all framed within a beautiful finely detailed foliate band. The majestic top crown displays a fine dentil design and intricately detailed wrap around palmette designed band in a rich satin and burnished finish. All original gilt throughout.
