About the Item

A fine and large Louis XVI style French mantel clock, from the end of the Napoleon III period, 1870-1880. The clock is bronze casted and has a fire-gilded finish, the dial is enameled copper. Richly all around embellished with neoclassical ornaments such as a lidded urn at the top, garlands of laurel. The brass case is flanked by large acanthus leaves. The dial is signed "Guibal, Paris". In the 19th Century the jewelry store signed his name on the dial. The bronze case and enameled dial are original. Including a bronze bell, pendulum and key The clock is in good condition, it have original gilding. The clock runs and strikes every half hour. The clockwork has been fully cleaned and restored checked by a professional clockmaker and runs and strikes well. At the top of the dial is a small damage at the enamel, see picture.
