Massive French Clock of Baccanalian Maiden Lying Naked on Lion's Skin

About the Item

French patinated bronze and Sienna marble mantel clock of massive proportions. The subject being of a naked maiden lying down on a lion's pelt and leaning against the clock. The subject is certainly a bacchanalian maiden, possibly Erigone and is taken directly from a model produced by Clodion in the 18th century. In excellent condition. The dial of marble and the movement of 8 day duration striking the hours and halves on a bell.
