Unusual Louis XVI mantel clock by Gavelle a Paris

About the Item

A good and very unusual Louis XVI mantel clock in a form of a soldier with the drum on his back carrying the movement. The lovely patinated bronze mounted on a typical early Louis XVI black ormolu mounted base circa 1780. Striking 8-day silk thread suspension movement with nice enamel Dial with Arabic numbers and lovely pierced hands. Signed "Gavelle a Paris"
