About the Item

An exceptional early 20th century gilt-bronze desk or table clock by Luxor of Switzerland, showcasing both horological precision and decorative artistry. The rectangular case is finely cast in gilt brass, embellished with intricate astrological and horological motifs that symbolize the passage of time and celestial harmony. At its center rests a handsome 4-inch silvered dial, elegantly signed, with bold numerals and a subsidiary jump-seconds hand. The clock houses an 8-day Swiss time-only movement of superb quality, further enhanced by a hacking feature and button set at the top of the case, underscoring the innovation and craftsmanship of Swiss clockmaking during this period. Its combination of technical ingenuity and decorative presence makes it as much a conversation piece as a practical timekeeper.
