Early production Timebeam classic clock by Stephen Savage, UK 1980s

About the Item

Original Timebeam classic analog projection clock. Because it has no CE marking it has to be a pre 1993 production. It is in very good condition and fully functional. It has an analog internal clock that is projected by a halogen light shining through. The image can be focused by moving the lens that is mounted on a u shaped bracket. The cylinder that houses the angled mirror can be rotated to aim the clock. The lamp has 2 intensities and can also be turned off while the clock still runs. "Timebeam by Design Limited was a British company founded by Stephen and Anthea Savage, specifically to put a'magic' projection clock on the market. The Timebeam Classic was a new, innovative product, designed in 1985 by Stephen Savage in order to project the image of a working clock. The idea was first conceived during a brainstorming session with Charles Coster during five long days with little business at the New York Gift Show. The key to the success of Timebeam was the 'through image´ - method to project the clock image. This unique and complicated design function was never used by competitors, who instead used a reflected image that lacks the intensity and clarity of the Timebeam image. The Classic was copied by different companies, which came and went, but it has remained the world leader and industry pacesetter in clock projection for 30 years.
