About the Item

A beautiful and large scaled French 19th century Louis XVI st. Brèche Violette marble, ormolu and patinated bronze clock signed Balthazard. The clock is raised by a square Brèche Violette marble base with concave corners, recessed mottled rectangular reserves at each side, and fine ormolu bun feet. At the center is a charming and wonderfully executed cherub draped in an exceptional flowing garment with richly chased hair and a lovely facial expression seemingly holding up the clock above his head. The clock above displays an elegant enameled white face with pierced ormolu hands with Roman numeral hour marking and Arabic numeral minute markings framed within a mottled wrap around ormolu bezel all below a beautiful flowing ribbon tied in a bow at the center.
