French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Rouge Griotte, Ormolu and Bronze Clock
About the Item
A stunning French 19th century Louis XVI st. Rouge Griotte, ormolu and patinated bronze signed clock. The clock is raised by fine topie shaped feet below the circular base with a fine Coeur de Rai ormolu band. The dial displays elegant Roman numerals and pierced ormolu hands on an elegant floral rosette framed in a beaded bezel with floral garlands. Wrapping around the base is a stunning and most richly chased ormolu plaque of charming and detailed cherubs playing amidst foliate movements all in a captivating satin and burnished finish, in the manner of Clodion. Above rests the original patinated bronze bust of a beautiful young lady with fine flowers in her hair. Wonderful attention to detail. All original gilt and patina throughout.
